This is a lovely and very versatile lamp. It would have originally been used in a 1940's garage or engineering workshop. Its an early lamp as it has a wooden handle rather than the later ones which were rubber or plastic.

When we received the lamp it was completely unrecognisable compared to how it is now. The hand was black from oil and grease. The cage had flaky black paint and it wasn't very attractive.

The first job was to painstakingly remove all of oil and grease from the handle. It cleaned up well and the oak grain looks really nice. We gave the handle 3 coats of Fides antique oak way and a gentle polish. It looks great !!.

All of the metalwork was polished and the cage was clear coated with a clear lacquer.. The lamp has lovely brass wingnut to secure the cage to the wooden handle.

The light was then professionally rewired with period correct braided cable . The lamp has a generous 1.5mtr power cable with an inline switch. The cage of the lamp is correctly earthed.

The light comes with a 60w  Vintage Edison incandescent filament bulb.  This style of lamp is excellent when used to light a corner of a room or a piece of art. Vintage inspection lamps are always popular as they can be used virtually anywhere in the home or Garage.

When lit the light looks stunning as it casts the most amazing shadows. The photos really don't do it any justice at all.

This is not just beautiful light but a great piece of early 20th century art that is guaranteed to be a conversation piece for years to come!
