In the 1880s, the Frenchman Charles Pigeon filed his patent for these lamps working with mineral spirit making them much safer than lamps that had gone before. This is an authentic pigeon lamp was made in France around the turn of the century making it around 120 years old. It was made by the S.M Lighting of Lyon who have been making lights since 1839

The lamp was in good general condition when we acquired but very heavily tarnished it so we so we gave it a really good deep clean and gentle polish. When we did iwe uncovered the most amazing engraving. We then clear coated it so it maintains its finish. We manufactured a brass insert so we could mount an antique style bakelite bulb holder. 

The light was then professionally rewired with period correct braided cable and fitted with an inline switch. The lamp has a generous 1.5 mtr power cable and an inline switch. The lamp is correctly earthed and it has been PAT tested.

The light comes with a Vintage style Edison LED tube bulb.

When lit the light looks stunning as it casts the most amazing shadows. The photos really don't do it any justice at all.

This is not just beautiful light but a great piece of early 20th century art that is guaranteed to be a conversation piece for years to come!
