Check out this lovely 1960's Coughtree bulkhead lamp.

Coghtree Lighting was established in 1939 by the original Mr John Coughtrie.  The Coughtrie brand is synonymous with well-engineered, sustainable products designed to withstand the test of time, in the most arduous of environments. Awarded the King’s Roll in 1941 for employing disabled ex-servicemen, Coughtrie still operates from the same factory in Hillington, Glasgow, as it has done for over 80 years !

Now a little about the restoration

This lamp was in decent shape when we acquired it  it had some peeling paint so we decided to sand blast it to remove the old paint, we then polished it to give it a nice brushed aluminium finish. The castings are first class and the coughtree name and Glasgow can be clearly seen. The glass was cleaned and although it has some minor surface marks it looks great when lit.

To match such a lovely light we used a nice piece of cracked pippy oak that we reclaimed from an 1920's  kitchen table. It has great colour and works well with this lamp.

For the electrification we replaced the cracked coughtree bulb holder  with a new one. To complete the vintage look we have fitted a vintage an B22 Edison LED bulb . It looks amazing when its lit.

To match the lamp we used 1.5 m of period correct vintage braided cable. There is also an inline on and off switch and a UK 3 pin plug. The lamp is earthed for electrical safety and it has been PAT tested.

This is a stunning rare light and perfect for a table, sideboard, desk or even as a bedside lamp.
