The starting piece for this lamp was a 1950's Bullfinch 1225 Flood Lamp.

The Miniflood 1225 was a small non domestic portable propane powered floodlight that was designed for illuminating emergency road signs etc. The Bullfinch company is still in operation today working from the same factory in Tyseley, Birmingham.

It's clear this lamp was made in a time where quality mattered as the aluminium casting are superb ! . When we acquired the lamp it had lost most of its paint so we decided to give it a full restoration and electric conversion.

All of the metal parts of this wonderful lamp have been polished and then clear coated. This gives a resilient finish that will last for another 70 years !

Electrically, this lamp has had all new components, including a custom made bulb holder that allows the lamp to use a wide variety of E27 bulbs. The lamp has a generous 1.5 mtr power cable and an inline switch. All of our lamps are professionally wired PAT tested and are fully earthed.

The light comes with a 40w Edison Radio Valve bulb. This gives a beautiful warm white light from the front .

A lamp as nice as this needed a really nice base, so we married it to a piece of 2 inch thick solid mahogany. (No old bits of scaffold board here) The mahogany came from a 1920's boiler room and it previously had pressure gauges mounted on it !

When lit the light looks stunning . The photos really don't do it any justice at all.

The Lamp is very versatile and can be angled up and down and rotated on its base.

This is not just beautiful light but a great piece of British Mid Century lighting that is guaranteed to be a conversation piece for years to come!

This lamp has the following approximate dimensions:

Height 38cm
Depth 20cm
Width 22cm
